Best Mobile WIFI in Europe - Especially for France.
I remember having to duck into the rare Internet café to let my parents know I was still alive when I was backpacking through Italy as a teenager. What a pain that was! Fortunately, in much of the world connectivity is much easier to come by these days…
I am extremely biased – the last two trips we’ve taken, we’ve had the pleasure of using mobile wireless units from excellent companies in Japan and France. This made everything super easy so I really think you should explore that as an option. We get it: some of you like setting cash on fire for fun. I’ll draw up a comparison of international cell phone plans for you later.
We used Hippocket in France and Spain this year and were really impressed. They’re a startup based in France, but their products cover most of Europe. I highly recommend using Hippocket.
I really enjoy that they make all of the logistics so easy too
Here’s how it worked:
We told them where we were staying our first night in Spain.
They made sure that the mobile wifi unit was waiting at our hotel (It came in a nice pouch with the charger and simple instructions).
We were connected to very fast internet within minutes of opening the pouch.
At the end of the trip, I just put it back in the envelope and dropped it in a mailbox.
Here’s their price breakdown:
When we were in Japan we used both Sim Cards and Wifi devices from eConnect Japan and that was great too. I have to give it to Hippocket though... I would send them them even the most inexperienced traveler because they just make everything easy. THANKS, HIPPOCKET!
